IPTV on Smart TV
IPTV on your Smart TV, with no extra box
Most Samsung, LG, Hisense and Google TV sets made since around 2018 can run IPTV GOLD through a built-in app. Here's what each brand needs, how to set it up and the picture settings worth changing.

Brand by brand
What your TV runs, and what that means
| Brand | System | App store | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung | Tizen | Samsung Apps | Good choice of apps on 2018-onward models. |
| LG | webOS | LG Content Store | Reliable once updated; keep webOS current. |
| Sony, TCL, Hisense (Google TV) | Google TV | Google Play | Excellent, with the widest app choice |
| Insignia, Toshiba (Fire TV) | Fire TV built in | Amazon Appstore | Works like a Fire TV Stick. |
| Hisense (VIDAA) | VIDAA | VIDAA store | Fewer apps; check your model with us. |
| Roku TVs, Vizio | Roku OS, SmartCast | Limited | Limited. Add a Fire TV Stick instead. |

Four settings that make a visible difference
Picture mode
"Movie", "Cinema" or "Filmmaker" mode for movies; "Standard" for bright daytime sports.
Motion smoothing
Often called Auto Motion Plus or TruMotion. Many prefer it off for movies and low for fast sports.
Energy saving
If the picture dims or apps close in the background, turn the eco setting down.

Questions
Smart TV questions
Why can't I find the app on my TV?
App stores differ by brand, model year and region, and some apps are withdrawn over time. Send us your model number and we'll name an app that's available for your set.
The app asks for a payment. Is that you?
No. Some TV player apps charge their own small fee after a free period, paid to the app developer. We tell you before you install, and suggest free options where they exist.
Is the built-in app as good as a stick?
On recent, quick TVs it's just as good and tidier. On older or slow sets, a stick or box usually feels faster and gets app updates for longer.
Can I use my Smart TV remote?
Yes. Player apps are designed for TV remotes. Arrow keys move through the guide and OK selects; holding OK usually adds a channel to favorites.
