IPTV on Apple TV
IPTV on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad
Apple devices run polished player apps from the App Store, and Apple TV 4K gives one of the sharpest, smoothest pictures you can get from IPTV. Here's how to choose an app, set up the picture and decide between AirPlay and a native app.

Which device?
Apple TV, iPhone or iPad?
Apple TV 4K
The best Apple option for the main TV: quick, quiet and excellent at matching the picture to the content. Models with a network port are ideal for live sports.
iPhone
Perfect for checking a score or watching in the kitchen. Use Wi-Fi for long viewing to save your data plan.
iPad
A great second screen in bed or in the backyard, with a big display and long battery life.

Match content
Settings › Video and Audio › Match Content: turn on Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate so sport and movies play at their native rate.
Choose the right format
For a mix of HD channels and movies, 4K SDR with Match Content switched on usually looks the most natural.
Use a cable if there's a port
Apple TV 4K models with Ethernet are noticeably steadier for live events than Wi-Fi.
| Native app | AirPlay from a phone | |

Questions
Apple questions
Does it work on older Apple TV HD models?
Many player apps still support Apple TV HD, though the 4K models are quicker and receive updates for longer. Tell us your model and we'll confirm.
Can I add my details without typing on the remote?
Often, yes. Several Apple player apps let you add a playlist or login from a web page on your phone, which is much quicker than the on-screen keyboard.
Will it work on a Mac?
Yes, through a desktop player app. See the Windows & Mac steps in our installation guide.
Why does the picture flicker when a channel starts?
That's Match Content switching the TV to the right frame rate. A brief blank screen is normal and means the picture will be smoother.
